Are the Colors Black?
Lately I’ve been noticing that the blacks on some of our releases don’t look black on certain displays, mainly LCD monitors. When I do my cleaning, (and QC the cleans of the rest of the team,) I do so on a pair of CRT monitors, with a calibration set darker and yellower than usual. I believe this calibration causes me to believe the blacks are black when they actually aren’t.
I’d like some feedback from those of you with LCDs or CRT displays: how do our scans look? Are the blacks black? The levels set properly? Do you think we need to re-release some of our releases? Please let us know by commenting on this post.
[Edit] Renamed to clarify that I am referring to the black-colored portions of the images we release.

Well, all the latest release of Vagabond, KoT & Jackals look really good for me (blacks are blacks), & the level i think is just right (forest & sky look good in vagabond)
Using LCD monitor, calibrated by…hand lol (using Adobe Gamma, don’t have the damn Spider)
I’m on a CRT and everything looks good on my end. But keep in mind that I’ve only been reading My Balls.
King of Thorns is the best (or rather, worst) example. On normal pages it’s not really noticable at all, but on flashback pages, with black borders, it’s quite obvious.
It looks like…hm, well, I suppose it looks like the surface of something you just pulled a sticker off of. With traces of glue still sticking to it, or something.
looks fine on my LCD. i haven’t adjusted anything, and it looks normal with the default settings, though i’ve only been reading My Balls as well, so i have no idea about the other things.
the first chapter of my balls looks a bit ‘washed up’ for me. the black areas are mostly grey, it looks like this ‘traces of glue still sticking on it’ what loktar mentioned
I wouldn’t have noticed if you guyes haven’t said it yourself, but it is somewhat of a problem. Fix if you guys can (mayby get an extra QC:er if possible) but I don’t think you need to re-release the releases. It’s not that much of a problem
On my 2 CRT it looks fine, np.
