It was suggested I make a post on the front page so here goes.

Everything is on temporary hold again as I have killed a second computer and I won’t dare try to run photoshop on an eee. Once I get a desktop PC again I should have a few releases pretty much right away, as I’ve been kicking everyone’s butts to get things ready for when I can do QC again.

edit: yes computer ordered. no I’m not coming back to #strays for a while. no we’re not dead ignore anyone who says otherwise.

7/13 edit: For some reason I’m getting wierd behavior on vagabond so it’s temporarily stalled until I can get our other QCer to take care of it. KoT and possibly more coming soon.

We will be doing a re-release of the full volume with consistent filenames, fixed names, and fresh cleaning on the early chapters as well as all the bonus content from the end of the volume.

In less important news, I have apparently been cleaning for a year now.

Yes we know raws for My Balls and Vagabond are out, don’t worry, we have them all. Stop spamming the comments with urls and notifications, they will be purged.

I feel we need to straighten out our status on all the series we’ve picked up, as I’ve been doing some reorganizing.

Want to use our scanlations to do versions in your own language? Then read on.

We’re all for proliferating good manga everywhere (especially if they’re our own projects), so yes, you can make versions of our scanlations in your own language, provided your follow these terms:

1. You let us know.

Basic courtesy 101. You can either post in the forum or hop on IRC and talk to me (Siedhr) or Devin about it. That would also help us make a directory of links to your websites, thus giving you a bit more exposure.

2. You keep our original credits page and you also credit us in your own credits pages.

Something like:
“Original version scanlated by Strays. http://www.strays.vnmanga.com”.

If you do these things we can also provide you with the original cleaned psds and also the scripts, which would make things much easier for you. - Unfortunately there is a problem with this offer, since we keep changing servers. So for now, just use our releases.

3. You’re not French.

Just kidding, but still, the French community has been known to take our releases and do their own versions without a meep. You thought we didn’t know, eh? Well, we do.

Optional condition:

4. We can always use help.

So if you find it in your international hearts to give us a hand, we’ll release that much faster. This isn’t mandatory however.

Lately I’ve been noticing that the blacks on some of our releases don’t look black on certain displays, mainly LCD monitors. When I do my cleaning, (and QC the cleans of the rest of the team,) I do so on a pair of CRT monitors, with a calibration set darker and yellower than usual. I believe this calibration causes me to believe the blacks are black when they actually aren’t.

I’d like some feedback from those of you with LCDs or CRT displays: how do our scans look? Are the blacks black? The levels set properly? Do you think we need to re-release some of our releases? Please let us know by commenting on this post.

Thanks to Nyaa’s generous offer, we have a new host for our site, wiki, and forums. Once everything is transferred over, we will also have torrents for all of our releases and DDL enabled again.

Cause it’s a crappy day! Everyone thinks they can do anything to anyone and get out of it by saying: “Oh, but it was a prank!”. Oh really…

Suffice it to say that yesterday, while all the Strays team was hard at work bringing you not one, not two, but three releases, somebody thought it funny to send us some pizza with hallucinogenic mushrooms on top. This led to an overall unexplainable behavior and the odd announcement yesterday. My Balls definitely will stay on our project list, don’t worry about it.

What can we say more than: “We’re sorry!” We will surely use the group mascot (Aladar) to test any questionable food and beverage in the future to make sure this doesn’t happen again. And shame on whoever sent us that pizza! You, my friend, are going to surely feel Hell’s eternal torture and be condemned to a lifetime of very blue balls.
