International Scanlations

Want to use our scanlations to do versions in your own language? Then read on.

We’re all for proliferating good manga everywhere (especially if they’re our own projects), so yes, you can make versions of our scanlations in your own language, provided your follow these terms:

1. You let us know.

Basic courtesy 101. You can either post in the forum or hop on IRC and talk to me (Siedhr) or Devin about it. That would also help us make a directory of links to your websites, thus giving you a bit more exposure.

2. You keep our original credits page and you also credit us in your own credits pages.

Something like:
“Original version scanlated by Strays. http://www.strays.vnmanga.com”.

If you do these things we can also provide you with the original cleaned psds and also the scripts, which would make things much easier for you. - Unfortunately there is a problem with this offer, since we keep changing servers. So for now, just use our releases.

3. You’re not French.

Just kidding, but still, the French community has been known to take our releases and do their own versions without a meep. You thought we didn’t know, eh? Well, we do.

Optional condition:

4. We can always use help.

So if you find it in your international hearts to give us a hand, we’ll release that much faster. This isn’t mandatory however.

Duh! F*cking rule number 4! Well yes I’m French and I wanted to propose my 2 neurones to make French versions of your work, too bad :°( As you said : just kidding ;)

Sorry for the bad behavior of my compatriots but it’s a national tradition to give politeness lessons and behave like a pig.

Still, well, if you’re interested in my proposal of help, please contact me, I’ll be glade to help especially for Vagabond.

um shit! proofread of my post(please fix):
    “there’s not no3″ should be “there’s no #3″
    long live the plebs!

  9. Dolita November 9th, 2007 9:54 am

It should’ve been “Just kidding, but still, the French community has been KNOWN to take our releases”.
sorry to be picky, I believe with all the translations you’ve done wonderfully, it’s just a typo :)

    @ menphis

Actually, what Strays’ problem with the French taking their work is that they don’t give Strays any credit for the original translation and claim the work as their own; Strays, on the other hand, gives full credit to the mangaka, and they do all the grunt work of translating from Japanese.

So let me laugh at you, dipshit.

    Pardon my French.

Mmmm… I have translated Sketch to Spanish, but if you have notice how awful my English is, you can imagine what kind of terrible translation I have made… Sorry, sorry! But I wrote your url when I made my own credits page, because I’m thankful.

  12. Siedhr April 29th, 2008 2:24 pm

Thanks for the proof, you guys. I fixed the errors.

Alena, that was my point exactly.

Agua, I’m sure your version is fine and thank you for the credit. The way you express yourself in English may have no bearing on the quality of your translation. For example, I know French well enough to understand, read and translate, but I can’t write in it.
